Maarten's blog

I, Maarten, was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2008 when I was just 3 months old. After brain surgery, chemotherapy in Seattle and proton radiation therapy in Boston, the tumor slept for 8 years but came back in 2017. My amazing brain surgeons and radiologists managed to remove it once again. We are now in 2021 and the tumor has showed its ugly face again. We are lucky to have our life-long Seattle Children's medical team at our side to beat this thing down once more!

A trip through American History

We just came back from our one-week adventure in the beautiful Cascade Mountain. While mummy and daddy got a feel for the living conditions of early European settlers, Maarten got inspired by Northwest Indian Tribe's tradition of tribal body painting. Memorable trip.
